What Do Hair, Cooking Oil and Paper Towels Have In Common?

posted by:  Charlotte Plumbing &  Repair

Drain cleaning can be a good thing for your Seattle household plumbing, but it isn’t cheap to have it done professionally. While it may be something you want to schedule regularly with your Charlotte Plumber, it isn’t something you want to be up against in an emergency. Having said that, millions of homeowners have found themselves in just such a position at one time or another. 99% of the time, these clogs could have been avoided by following some simple rules about what should go down the pipes and what shouldn’t. Stick to those rules, and you shouldn’t experience any trouble. Here are some of the most common clogs.

Hair

More than anything else, hair is the primary culprit behind most household clogs, especially as it pertains to the bathroom pipes. It’s only natural, of course. Shaving, grooming, even shampooing can cause you to lose quite a lot of hair over a short period of time. If you have people with long hair in your family, the chances of facing a clog in the near future grow ever more likely. While having everyone in the family shave their heads is a drastic measure to take, there are some simple steps you can take to avoid needing professional drain cleaning. Install some special filters or strainers and catch the hair rather than letting it flow into the pipes.

Cooking Oil

Pour a bottle full of vegetable oil down the kitchen sink and you probably won’t run into any problems. Pour that same amount down the hole after you’ve cooked with it and it may be the last thing that goes down without a fight. When it comes to your Seattle kitchen sink, no substance creates as much need for drain cleaning as used cooking oil. Once it cools after cooking, it hardens into a white, sticky mess that clings to the side of your pipes. It doesn’t take many times of doing this before you’re facing a real problem with water flow. Instead of pouring it down the sink, pour it into a sealable bottle or can and throw it out with the trash.

Paper Products

Toilet paper is very light and practically disintegrates when put through the plumbing system. Paper towels, tampons, and feminine napkins are not the same and should never be flushed down the toilet. It is another of the most common reasons for a clog and it is why nearly all Seattle drain cleaning specialists advise finding something else to do with these paper products.

Kanye West Will Team Up With Rick Rubin Again For His Next Album

So much of what I loved about Kanye West‘s Yeezus album could probably be attributed to the legendary Rick Rubin, and his overall involvement in the project. Just before turning the finished product into his record label, Kanye took it to Rubin who helped him reorganize it, complete tracks, and basically just made it a [...]

Kelly Clarkson on Pregnancy, Baby Names, Wedding on ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’ (Video)

Kelly Clarkson spoke about her wedding to Brandon Blackstock, her pregnancy which she calls “horrible” as well as her vow to avoid “weird” baby names and more on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

The 31-year-old singer-songwriter and first season American Idol winner had been vocal about her desire to have children as soon as possible. And now that she is pregnant she continues to be vocal. She is not enjoying pregnancy to say the least and she has vented quite a bit about the unpleasantness of her physical state. TMI some might say, but expectant mothers, past and present, may find common ground.

Kelly Clarkson said, “I vomit a good dozen times a day. It’s, like, bad. I vomited before coming out here and I had a peppermint so you didn’t…I’m not even kidding, it’s so bad. It’s so bad. I know it’s like so gross. And that’s the thing, too—you’re not attractive when you’re pregnant. Everybody tells you you glow and your hair is pretty and your nails are pretty. That’s total crap. My nails are short, my hair still falls out. It’s not all lush and beautiful and I have no glow. Unless it’s, like, something left over from a bad throw up. It’s horrible. I’m done talking! I’m sorry.”

She said that she is 11 weeks pregnant. I totally want to know right now, She did go on to talk about the much hoped for child, however, and spoke of his or her name — she said that she did not know the gender of the child, and as for the name, “it didn’t even matter because honestly, the name we picked is if it’s a boy or a girl. It’s the same name.”

Naturally, the host ventured to guess the name, throwing out “Chris” and “Pat” for starters.

Kelly Clarkson interjected, “No, you won’t guess it. It’s like a random name. It’s not like some weird famous person that’s going to be like, Blue Jazz. It’s not going to be a weird name.”

Naturally, that has generated some buzz as people speculate as to whether the “Blue Jazz” is alluding to Beyonce and Jay Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy.”

Kelly Clarkson went on with her discourse on naming children. She added: “You know how people … name their child. And see, all I’m thinking of are real celebrity baby names and I don’t want to insult anyone. But so I can’t think of anything funny but it will be like, Sweater Mike. And you know it’ll be weird. Don’t you think so? People name their kids weird names.”

Ellen DeGeneres then asked her about her recent wedding to Brandon Blackstock which took place at a farm in Tennessee. Clarkson had Tweeted the wedding photos and later a video. She said of it, “It was so beautiful. It was so great. It was really funny… I bawled so hard; not pretty Rachael McAdams cry. Like really bad, like, oh that poor girl. My videographer hasn’t even shown it to me.”

She went on to say, “I couldn’t get the vows out. We wrote our own vows, and people tell you to do that, and it was the worst damn decision. I went first and then I couldn’t get through…I got through finally. It took like an hour.” She added, “I could not talk while crying. I was a sobbing hot mess.”

She also talked about her new album, ‘Wrapped in Red,’ her first-ever Christmas album, which has already produced a hit single, ‘Underneath the Tree.’ Ellen DeGeneres gave her an ugly Christmas sweater as well as one for her unborn child.

Her holiday special, ‘Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale’ will be broadcast on December 11th on NBC.
